When I was coming up in the automotive repair business I would spend every paycheck on tools and bought the three torque wrenches. In reality I only use them for precise work on motors or differentials and the like. Other wise 90% of my work is done by feel. I have seen that torque wrench get many people in trouble. Oil drain plugs usually have a gasket that goes with; if not you should be able to feel just snug. Either way, I've always gone with 1/4-turn after snug. Spark-plugs the same way. I do like using just a little snot-glob of anti-seize on plugs.

Place a drain pan beneath the drain hole, remove the plug and drain the fluid. Remove the cooler lines at the transmission and flush them with compressed, low pressure air. Be careful during this step; fluid may shoot from the other cooler line. Place a large drain pan beneath the transmission. Loosen the retaining bolts on the oil pan with a socket wrench until they are within a few turns of removal. I've never checked torque on an oil drain plug, use common sense (or the 23-30 ft lbs in the video...) I do use a torque wrench and I put 25 ft. lbs. on my drainplug. No leaks experienced, no distress suffered on the Allen head of same.
